Heavy trash comes twice a year
Lawrence holds heavy trash pickup in the first full week of May and the first full week of October. During those weeks each household can set out three bulky items. Outside them, the city's hauler, Priority Waste, will collect bulky items for a per-item fee if you call at least 48 hours ahead at 855-927-8365 (City of Lawrence trash page).
So timing matters. A spring cleanout finished just before the May week can send a sofa or two to the curb. In midsummer, a container for anything more than a couple of items usually makes more sense.
The street permit is Lawrence's, not Indy's
Lawrence city code sets its own right-of-way use permit, priced by the block (Lawrence code, permit fees). If the container can't fit in the driveway and has to sit in a parking lane, call Lawrence's Department of Public Works at 317-545-8787 before you book a date. An Indianapolis permit won't cover a Lawrence street.
Lawn bags and chemicals
Lawn and leaf collection runs in April and November, with up to fifteen bags per household in all across those months. For a bigger yard clearing at another time of year, see yard waste dumpsters.
Lawrence is in Marion County, so its households can use the city's ToxDrop sites for paint, solvents and electronics (dates and locations).

Talk to a local dumpster company
Have your address, the project and a rough start date handy. The company will suggest a size and tell you the price, the weight allowance and when it can bring the container.
